Sync between your devices
Engraven syncs through your iCloud. Sign in to the same Apple Account on your iPhone, iPad and Mac, with iCloud turned on for Engraven: Settings → your name → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud. Settings → iCloud & Backups in Engraven shows whether everything has synced, and says so plainly when something hasn't.
Share a journal
Open a journal's menu and choose Share Journal…, then send the invitation to one person. When they accept, each day opens as two pages, yours and theirs, and every entry shows who wrote it. To add to something they wrote, open it and choose Add to their entry (it shows their name): your words go beside theirs, never into them. To stop, open the journal's menu, then Sharing Settings → Stop Sharing…; each of you keeps a copy.
Bring your Day One journal
Export your journal from Day One as JSON, then in Engraven go to Settings → Import a Journal and choose the export. Entries, photos, places, weather and tags come across. Photos already in your library are linked rather than copied, and the summary says what was linked, copied or skipped.
Backups and export
Engraven makes automatic backups in your iCloud Drive and checks each one. Settings → iCloud & Backups shows the last backup and can restore one. Export Everything (Settings → Privacy) saves your whole journal as Markdown with photos, or as JSON, wherever you choose.
App Lock
Settings → Privacy → Lock with Face ID (or Touch ID) keeps your journal behind Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. Choose how soon it locks after you leave the app.
Intelligence and which devices run it
Photo suggestions, voice entries, search by meaning, Looking Back, suggested titles and tags, and photo descriptions run on your device with Apple Intelligence. They need a device with Apple Intelligence turned on (iPhone 15 Pro or later, iPad and Mac with M1 or later); photo descriptions also need iOS 27 or macOS 27. Settings → Intelligence turns each one on or off and says why one isn't available. Engraven never writes, finishes or rewrites your entries, and works completely with intelligence off.
Delete your data
Your journal lives on your devices and in your iCloud, not on our servers. To remove it everywhere: Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage → Engraven → Delete Data, then remove Engraven's folder from iCloud Drive in the Files app to delete backups.
